POSTSEASON PROTEST PROCEDURES
2025-2026 PROTEST PROCEDURES:
- Only a misinterpretation or misapplication of an NFHS Rule is subject to protest during a WIAA State Event. Video cannot be used and judgement calls cannot be protested.
- The head coach must notify the contest official before play is resumed that the contest is being protested.
- The contest official will notify the event manager and/or head official of the protest.
- The event manager and head official will report to that field/court with the 2025-26 Protest Form.
- The time will be noted on the form and the coach must initial that they acknowledge that their school will be invoiced $100.
- The coach has five minutes in which to state the specific NFHS Rule and how it was misapplied or misinterpreted.
- If the rule and writeup is not completed within five minutes, the protest is not valid. The school will be invoiced the $100. Play resumes.
- If the rule and writeup is completed within five minutes, the WIAA staff member that oversees that sport will determine if it is a valid protest.
- If it is a judgment call or not a valid protest, the school will be invoiced the $100. Play resumes.
- If the protest is valid, the situation will be reviewed by the Games Committee and determine if the situation can be corrected. The school will not be invoiced. Play resumes.
